the first scan of a new series I’ve begun to embark on: more or less an exercise to diminish a fear, along with creating a new avenue to explore cities i visit in a different way.   i have a tendency to be timid, nervous, and sweaty while photographing strangers; with the thought of intruding or being an annoyance in these people’s lives, i can’t help but get all clammy.   the new goal: if someone looks interesting or is having a good time, ask them politely for a photograph - with all intentions of sending them a copy.  there is a lot you can learn from a person after spending twenty seconds with them. this is Duval, a London native and avid roller skater.  he’s worked for different trucking companies throughout England and even stayed for a short time in Philadelphia (note the Philadelphia Coca-Cola sweatshirt).  every friday, Duval sets up the cones you see behind him, puts his head phones in, and weaves up and down Hyde Park for an escape from the work week.   Duval / Hyde Park, London / January, 2012 / Pentax 67 / Fuji NPS160
